Inoculating Grain Bags
Before we start, always wash your hands and be in an area with the least amount of contaminants possible (dogs, cats, fans etc.).
When hands are dry, put on a pair of sterile gloves.
Open one alcohol swab and sanitize your gloves, the inoculating point on self-healing tape, and the syringe.
Install needle onto syringe. Do not remove protective cap on needle yet.
Open remaining alcohol swab; remove protective cap on needle; sterilize the needle.
Insert the tip of needle and inject into self-healing tape, you do not need to stick the needle all the way into the bag. (Needle may become stuck in grain. If so, gently pull out, re-sanitize, and try again.)
Gently move the syringe around in a circle and inject your chosen fungus.
When needle is pulled; carefully put back on protective cap on needle and dispose.
Sanitize grain bag.
Place bag in a warm (depending on fungus strain) dark space.
Wait four days or up to one week for mycelium growth.
When bag is 40% inoculated; time to mix your grain.
Break the grain apart with your hands until it is all broken up. The smaller the pieces the better.
It may look like you have damaged or killed your mycelium, rest assured you have not. It will take a day or two to reconnect.
Wait till your bag is 90-100% inoculated and we will see you at the next step!
Mono-tub Tek
Before we start always wash your hands and be in an area with the least amount of contaminants possible (dogs, cats, fans etc.).
When using mono-tubs we have a decreased risk of cross contamination while also increasing the surface area mycelium colonization. In this section we will explain how we mix our inoculated grain in with substrate.
For a 55qt mono-tub and above, we suggest using 10lbs of substrate for every 5lbs of grain.
Put on a pair of rubber gloves and sterilize with 70% alcohol or 10% bleach solution.
Sterilize your mono-tub. If you choose to use a liner, sterilize that as well.
Take your inoculated grain bag with your hands and break it apart until all the grain is broken up; the smaller the pieces the better.
Open inoculated grain bag.
Add half bag of substrate to the bottom layer of your mono-tub, and add bag of inoculated grain.
Mix with your hands until all the grain is broken and substrate is thoroughly mixed.
Add in remaining substrate on top of mix, layer of substrate should be as level as possible for even pinning. DO NOT MIX.
Give a firm press to ensure good grain to substrate contact.
Place mono-tub in a warm dark place for 10 to 14 days.
When mycelium has colonized; primordial pins may form.
Place mono-tub in a Light schedule of 12/12.
Lightly mist mycelium with water.
Open mono-tub lid every four hours for one day and spritz with water in between.
Leave lid vented.

Mono-tubs succeed in getting multiple flushes for one container (typically three). With each flush your fungus will produce bigger yields.
Fruiting Bags
Before we start always wash your hands and be in an area with the least amount of contaminants possible (dogs, cats, fans etc.).
Our bags can be used as fruiting chambers. Fungus strains, like our Oyster Mushrooms, like to be cultivated vertically. Here are the steps we take to fruit in our bags.
Fruiting bags we recommend using 3lbs of grain for every 5lbs of substrate.
Put on a pair of rubber gloves and sterilize with 70% alcohol or 10% bleach solution.
Take your inoculated grain bag with your hands and break it apart until all the grain is broken up; the smaller the pieces the better.
Open grain bag and substrate bag; pour grain into substrate bag; mix thoroughly.
(It is okay to pour bag contents out into a clean and sterile 5-gallon bucket to make mixing easier)
When thoroughly mixed, fold and roll the top of your bag down to the filter.
(If mixed in a bucket; either continue colonizing for bucket-tek or pour contents back into bag or bags for fruiting)
Clip closed.
If you have access to a heat strip i.e. seal meal or impulse heat sealer skip step five; seal bag closed.
Place bag in a warm dark place for 10 to 14 days.
When mycelium has colonized; primordial pins may form.
Place bag in a Light schedule of 12/12.
For fruiting fungus out of the top of the bag, either roll or cut the bag; one to two inches above substrate line.
When growing Oyster mushrooms; make two to three X cuts on the side or front for fungus to fruit.
Lightly mist mycelium with water.
Every fours to six hours; depending on humidity; for one day, spritz with water.

All-in-One Bags
Before we start always wash your hands and be in an area with the least amount of contaminants possible (dogs, cats, fans etc.).
Open one alcohol swab and sanitize your gloves, the inoculating point on self-healing tape and the syringe.
Install needle onto syringe. Do not remove protective cap on needle yet.
Open remaining alcohol swab; remove protective cap on needle; sterilize the needle.
Insert the tip and inject into self-healing tape, you do not need to stick the needle all the way into the bag. (Needle may become stuck in grain. If so, gently pull out, re-sanitize, and try again.)
Gently move the syringe around in a circle and inject your chosen fungus.
When needle is pulled; carefully put back on protective cap on needle and dispose.
Sanitize All-in-One bag.
Place bag in a warm (depending on fungus strain) dark space.
Wait four days or up to one week for mycelium growth.
When grain is 60% inoculated; time to mix your All-in-One bag.
Break the grain apart with your hands until it is all broken up. The smaller the pieces the better.
It may look like you have damaged or killed your mycelium, rest assured you have not. It will take a day or two to reconnect.
Mix All-in-One bag extensively, making sure all substrate has come into contact with mycelium.
Wait till your bag is 90-100% inoculated. (how long does this take?)
Cut or roll down your bag to one to two inches above the substrate line.
Place bag in a warm dark place for 10 to 14 days.
When mycelium has colonized; primordial pins may form.
Place bag in a Light schedule of 12/12.
Lightly mist mycelium with water.
Every fours to six hours; depending on humidity; for one day, spritz with water.
